Most shorts for tall men are standard shorts with a little extra length. These are proportioned for height from the rise down.
Fit
A tall-athletic relaxed straight fit adds room through the seat and thighs and keeps a clean line through the leg. The higher rise improves coverage when you sit or move, so these mens tall shorts stay in place instead of riding low.

Why a 14" Inseam Works on Tall Men
The inseam is measured from the crotch seam to the hem, and many standard men's shorts sit between 7" and 10". On a long leg that length ends high on the thigh and reads cropped. Long inseam shorts fix this by adding length below the crotch rather than width at the waist.
Among men's shorts, a 14 inseam sits at the long end, and that is deliberate. On most tall men, 14 inch inseam shorts end a few inches above the knee, which suits the length of the leg. For shorts for tall guys, the 14" inseam is what separates a long short from an oversized one.

As a general guide, the inseam for a 6'2 man starts at around 12". Men from about 6'1" to 6'3" who prefer a shorter look often wear 12 inch inseam shorts or 13 inch inseam shorts. The Field Camo Cargo Shorts go longer, at 14", for a cleaner line on a tall leg.
How should shorts fit a tall man?
